Fines for Failing to Comply

As of 1st July 2021, if a new or renewed contract is signed on a Raureka rental property, all Healthy Homes compliance work need to be done by the end of 90 days.

Since the 1st July of 2021, when a new, renewed or varied Tenancy is signed for a Raureka rental property, all Healthy Homes compliance work must be finished by the end of 90 days.

Failure to meet all of the Healthy Homes Standards within the deadlines can result in penalties of up to $7200. Additionally, if a existing Healthy Homes Statement of Compliance is not included within the renewal, new or revised tenancy agreement, it could result in an additional fine or violation fee.

Any tenant may request information about the Healthy Homes Standard and how they are related to the house they reside in. Tenancies that were signed in the period between July 1st 2019 to 30 , June 20,21

  • Ceiling and underfloor insulation is mandatory for all Raureka and New Zealand rental homes where it is reasonably practicable to put in.
  • A Healthy Homes Intent to Comply Statement An Insulation Statement as well as an Insurance Statement should be included in any new, renewed or amended tenancy agreement.
